Context

The third edition of the project contains a selection of videos from the two previous presentations of the News From Tehran and the project In Search of a Location for an Independent Art Space in Tehran.

Context

In its second presentation, the project is introduced through a one-week event, including a film program, performances, a lecture and the launching of the second issue of Pages magazine 'Play & Location'. In this second edition the focus is more on a project by the performance artists that have been involved with News From Tehran since its first edition. Taking the city as a field for their research and experimentations, the artists reflect on the urban events structuring the daily life of the city and affecting its inhabitants. By addressing the identity of the city in change, caught between tradition and modernity, the artists question their own presence in this complex tapestry of relations and meanings. In close collaboration with Pages, a series of performances in the form of a fictive workshop on the replacement of the city of Tehran is developed. The performances are inspired by the real discussions around the replacement of the capital Tehran due to prediction of a grand earth quake. The performances speak of Tehran as a metropolis in crisis. They examine this crisis through the fictive/documentary reconstruction of the city's everyday life.
