Hamid Naficy



Hamid Naficy is Professor is Professor in Communication at department of Radio/Television/Film, at Northwestern school of communication. He has published extensively about theories of exile and displacement; exilic and diasporic cultures, films, and media; and Iranian, Middle Eastern cinemas. His books are a.o. A Social History of Iranian Cinema. Duke University Press, 4 volumes (2011-12), An Accented Cinema: Exilic and Diasporic Filmmaking (2001), Home, Exile, Homeland: Film, Media, and the Politics of Place (edited, 1999), The Making of Exile Cultures: Iranian Television in Los Angeles (1993), Otherness and the Media: the Ethnography of the Imagined and the Imaged (co-edited, 1993), Iran Media Index (1984), and a two volume book on the documentary cinema in Persian, Film-e Mostanad (1978-79).
